Dr. Holmes Bio

James C. Holmes, MD, FAAOS, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon at Western Orthopaedics, P.C., in Denver, Colorado. He specializes in caring for patients with knee and sports injuries, taking time with each patient to ensure an accurate diagnosis and to educate patients about their potential treatment options. Dr. Holmes attempts to manage patient injuries without surgery whenever possible, providing surgery only if non-operative measures fail, and the patient desires it.

Dr. Holmes earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University Medical School in New Orleans before interning at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas. After his internship, Dr. Holmes moved to Colorado for an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Colorado in Denver. Committed to advancing his knowledge and expertise, Dr. Holmes received a year of training at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Gobowen, England, and spent six months at Boston Children’s Hospital in Massachusetts. Dr. Holmes also served as an orthopaedic surgeon in the United States Army for two years.

Dr. Holmes is a member of the Arthroscopic Association of North America, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. He is board-certified in orthopaedic surgery and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He gives back to the community once a month, donating his services at outreach clinics in Goodland and Colby, Kansas.
