Plantar Fasciitis
Definition:
Heel spur, heel pain
Symptoms:
Heel pain, especially in morning.
Treatment:
Physical therapy, Orthotics, Night Splint, cortisone injection, Shockwave treatment, surgery
If left untreated:
Patient can expect continued pain, difficulty standing or walking for long periods of time.
Rehabilitation process:
4-6 weeks of physical therapy.
Ankle Instability
Definition:
Chronic ankle instability is a condition characterized by a recurring “giving way” of the outer (lateral) side of the ankle. This condition often develops after repeated ankle sprains.
Symptoms:
Ankle pain, weakness, and swelling. Ankle gives out.
Treatment:
Physical therapy, Bracing, Surgery.
Hallux Valgus (Bunion)
Definition:
Bunion
Symptoms:
Pain with shoewear, big toe pushing into other toes, big bump on side of big toe
Treatment:
Shoewear modification, orthotics, surgery
If left untreated:
Continued pain, development of hammertoes, arthritis
Rehabilitation process:
No specific rehab.
