Edward (Ted) Parks, MD, FAAOS, is a board-certified orthopaedic specialist treating patients at Western Orthopaedics, P.C., in Denver, Colorado. He specializes in sports medicine, advanced arthroscopic reconstruction of the knee and shoulder, hip and knee replacement, and shoulder surgery. He has been a team physician for several high school, college, and professional athletes. He believes every patient deserves direct attention and careful examination by their physician and takes time to educate each patient on their condition and possible treatment options, so they can make informed decisions regarding their health care.
Dr. Parks earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biological sciences from Stanford University in California before earning his medical degree from Yale Medical School in New Haven, Connecticut. Dr. Parks completed both an internship and orthopaedic residency at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Medical Center, and a sports medicine fellowship with Dr. Frank Noyes in Cincinnati.
Dr. Parks shares his knowledge and expertise as a clinical professor at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine, where he received the Outstanding Clinical Faculty Teaching Award in 2008, and he is also an instructor for the American College of Physicians. Dr. Parks wrote an orthopaedic surgery textbook published by McGraw-Hill for medical schools around the world.
An award-winning doctor, Dr. Parks received the Top Docs award from Denver’s 5280 Magazine 14 years in a row and was named one of the country’s best orthopaedic surgeons twice by U.S. News and World Report. He is board-certified and a fellow with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of the Colorado Medical Society.
Outside of work, Dr. Parks is the inventor of two United States patents, an oil portrait artist, and an industrial designer. He designed and built the car he drives every day!
